LiveStyles, Cork, 2013 - Part 1 - Works in Progress

About two weeks ago, over the June Bank Holiday Weekend, Cork's annual LiveStyles hip hop festival was on, running from 1 May to 3 June 2013.

A lot of places in the city - like Flava Floors, the Camden Palace Hotel, The Pavilion, and many others - were involved in the event, as sponsors and as venues for some of the fine events.

Over the weekend there was breakdancing, hip hop music, workshops, a BBQ, nightclubbing and - yes - GRAFFITI!!

Here is a link to the LiveStyles website: http://livestylesfest.com/

Also, here is the link to the festival's Facebook page, which has a lot of info on the event, photos and videos too: https://www.facebook.com/LiveStylesFest

Dusto, of Flava Floors, and Psychonautes collaborated to put up this piece advertising the event in the days before the weekend. This was located on the front of the Camden Palace Hotel, but was painted over during the weekend.

While the festival was on, I managed to head down on Saturday, 1 June, to take some photos of the graffiti artists at work. They were active around the Camden Palace Hotel, mainly on Pine Street and Camden Quay, and in the White Street car park, on... um... White Street....

So here is a selection of what I was able to take. First, here are some pieces in progress in the Camden Palace Hotel area....

Coburg Lane...

Pine Street...

Camden Quay...

And here are some of the pieces I found underway in the White Street car park when I arrived....

I took all these photographs in May and June 2013.

I also took photos of the finished pieces at the Camden Palace and White Street a few days later. I will post these in a couple days, hopefully.
